Golden cornbread

                                                          Preheat the oven to 200 C / Gas 6.
      125g plain flour                                    Lightly grease a 23cm (9 inch) round
                                                          cake tin.

      125g cornmeal                                       Combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt and
                                                          baking powder in a large bowl. Stir in
      140g sugar                                          egg, milk and vegetable oil until well
                                                          combined. Pour mixture into prepared
      1 teaspoon salt                                     tin.

                                                          Bake in the preheated oven until a
      3 teaspoons baking powder                           skewer inserted into the centre of the
                                                          loaf comes out clean, 20 to 25 minutes.
